In this episode Helga writes love poems about Arnold in her diary, signing her name on the last page. However, she panics when she drops it and Arnold receives it, panicking when she hears Gerald and Arnold reading some of the poems. To prevent them from reaching the last page and discovering her secret, she enters Arnold's room and waits for a moment she can grab that book back.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode because it's the first really developed plot on the Helga-Arnold relationship, and I generally love the episodes in which Helga has to break into Arnold's boarding house because of the suspenseful atmosphere it creates. We also see the Arnold-Ruth relationship, and the different relationships are one of the distinguishing features of the cartoon.
