How do you rate this film? Personally, I think it's underrated.
The main criticism the film got was that it was unfit to be released in cinemas, as was shown by the small budget which was given to it, the relatively short running time it had and the animation (which could probably pass off on TV, but not as a film). I'd be willing to cut this film a bit of slack for that, because it wasoriginally intended for TV as a 'Save the Neighbourhood' special, and if it had been put on TV as originally planned.
I personally just enjoyed the plot general feel of the movie, even if some complained that the plot was too cliché--I mean, who doesn't enjoy Arnold being a hero and saving his neighbourhood? It's not bad, and is exciting when you first watch it. The main negatives involve Helga, unfortunately. At the beginning, when the general audience is just getting to know her, she's staring at Arnold through the top of his roof--I know Helga loves Arnold to an extreme extent but couldn't it just be expressed in a normal monologue? Also, the scenes where she interacted with Arnold regarding their relationship seem a bit forced and awkward, and the lame excuse at the end doesn't really make things right.
Anyway, this is just my opinion, how about yours?
